Cultural Ambassador Conversant Program (CACP)

The Cultural Ambassador Conversant Program (CACP) is an opportunity for domestic OSU students to interact with and support OSU's international student community.

This is a great way to internationalize your education at OSU and gain cultural diversity experience here on campus. Cultural Ambassador groups aim to explore our campus and participate in meaningful conversations that help international students practice their English skills and feel a greater sense of connection with the OSU and Corvallis community.

CACP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs):

Question: Who can volunteer as a domestic conversation partner?

  • Answer: Current Oregon State University students.

Question: Can I volunteer as a conversation partner if I am an international student?

  • Answer: We evaluate this situation on a case-by-case basis. If English is not your first language, but you believe that your English level is fluent and your accent is clear enough to be an example for English-learning students, please contact the Student Engagement Coordinator to discuss options ([email protected]).

Question: If I am a Corvallis community member without an ONID, can I participate in CACP?

  • Answer: Due to mask restrictions being lifted, we are only permitting OSU students and staff/faculty to participate in CACP. This is simply in an effort to keep our students safe.

Question: What if my partner doesn't respond to my emails or messages?

  • Answer: Please contact [email protected] so we can reach out to the student directly.
