INTO OSU Conversant Program

Do you want to practice your English and meet new people?

Join our Cultural Ambassador Conversant Program (CACP)! If you are in the U.S. or in your home country, CACP is a great way to meet other OSU students and Corvallis community members.

What can you expect?

  • We will introduce you to an English-speaking OSU student or Corvallis community member. 
  • You will meet with your partner(s) for one hour every wek until Week 9 of the term.
  • You will practice your English, meet new people, learn more about culture in the U.S., and have a new experience!

How can you sign up to participate in CACP?

  • CACP starts at the beginning of each term.

SLICE: Student Liaison for Improving the College Experience

Are you passionate about leadership and student advocacy? Apply to join SLICE! 

SLICE is open to INTO OSU students who are dedicated to building a community within the university and making space for our needs of our international student population. SLICE Officers are a chosen team of INTO OSU students who meet to develop strategies for student outreach, including: organizing inclusive events, facilitating online social opportunities, and collecting feedback from current students. 

SLICE Eligibility:

  • Current Undergraduate Student (UTP, IYO, or UGPW)
  • Good Academic Standing
  • 2-term Commitment

Academic Advocacy Liaison

Are you a dedicated student who wants to help improve academic support amongst international students? Do you enjoy problem solving? Do you like to talk with your classmates and discuss ways of making the studying experience better for international students?

If so, SLICE’s Academic Advocacy team needs you. Help students get connected with academic support programs within OSU and the Corvallis community. This is a great leadership position for people who like to explore options for academic success. 

 

Community & Culture Liaison

Do you want to make friends from different cultures and backgrounds at INTO OSU and on-campus? Do you want to learn about student clubs and help INTO OSU students find ways to join them?  Do you enjoy sharing your culture and helping others explore their own? 

When you join SLICE’s Community & Culture team as a Community and Culture Liaison, we will train you on how to start an online chat-based community with INTO OSU students. We will help you to connect to student club resources for Oregon State University students. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for people who like to share and spread multiculturalism.

Media & Entertainment Liaison

Did you know that Oregon State University has its own radio station and TV channel? Would you like to DJ your favorite music and expose fellow OSU Beavers to music from your home country? Do you want to set up a Twitch channel to show off your computer gaming skills or launch a podcast for you and your friends at INTO OSU?

By joining the SLICE team as the Media and Entertainment Liaison, we will train you on how to start an online chat-based community for INTO OSU students. We will help you to connect to resources on campus so that you can promote and host an online event. This is a great chance to take on a leadership role to improve the college experience for your fellow INTO OSU Media personalities.

Professional Development Liaison

Would you like to know more about internships and student employment opportunities? Would you like to know how to build your resume? Would you like to learn from other International Students who have found answers to the same questions that you have?

You are not alone! Although Oregon State University offers workshops and classes, sometimes INTO OSU students miss out on these opportunities. As a SLICE Professional Development Liaison, we will train you to start an online chat-based community for INTO OSU students. We will help you to connect with professional development resources on campus so that you can promote and host an online event for INTO OSU students interested in professional development. This is an excellent leadership role in improving the college experience for your fellow INTO OSU peers focused on their career path. 

Sports & Athletics Liaison

Are you a sports fan with a love of sharing your passion? Do you like to watch sports, play sports, and talk about sports? Are you interested in getting involved in OSU sports, clubs, and general athletics? 

As SLICE’s Sports & Athletics liaison, we will help you build a network of people at OSU who are dedicated to getting students involved in OSU sports and clubs. This is an awesome opportunity to get students excited about OSU sports and promote school spirit! 

Visual & Performing Arts Liaison

Do you like to paint, draw, act, or play a musical instrument? Would you like to connect to other INTO OSU students who have the same interest?

As the INTO OSU Art Liaison, we will train you on how to start an online chat-based community with INTO OSU students.We will help you to connect to artist resources for Oregon State University students, and give you the opportunity to plan an online event. This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role to improve the college experience for your fellow INTO OSU Artists.

Due to the current circumstances of primarily remote operations, we have no trips or adventures planned at this time. As operations change, we will update this page regarding Winter 2021 trips and adventures.

Trip FAQs

  • What does my trip fee cover?
    • Typically, the trip fee covers transportation, the staff members that accompany students, and any activities included in the trip. 
  • Where is the meeting location for trips?
    • Students will be picked up and dropped off at the ILLC, unless otherwised specified in the trip details. 
  • If I decide not to come after signing up, can I get a refund?
    • Unfortunately, INTO OSU has a no-refund policy. 
  • Can my friends come with me on a trip?
    • All Oregon State University students are welcome to sign up for our trips and activities; it's not limited to only INTO OSU students!
