INTO OSU Conversant Program

Do you want to practice your English and meet new people?

Join our Cultural Ambassador Conversant Program (CACP)! If you are in the U.S. or in your home country, CACP is a great way to meet other OSU students and Corvallis community members.

What can you expect?

  • We will introduce you to an English-speaking OSU student or Corvallis community member. 
  • You will meet with your partner(s) for one hour every wek until Week 9 of the term.
  • You will practice your English, meet new people, learn more about culture in the U.S., and have a new experience!

  • Complete the Google Form on this website. 

When do I receive the contact information for my CACP partner(s)?

  • Please check your OSU email (ONID) to receive your partner's email address.

Question: Who can participate in CACP?

  • Answer: Oregon State University international students.

Question: Can I volunteer as a conversation partner if I am an international student? 

  • Answer: We evaluate this situation on a case-by-case basis. If English is not your first language, but you believe that your English level is fluent and your accent is clear enough to be an example for English-learning students, please contact the Student Engagement Coordinator to discuss options ([email protected]).

Question: What if my partner doesn't respond to my emails or messages? 

  • Answer: Please contact [email protected] so that she can reach out to the student directly.

Question: How do I see more information about the trip? 

  • Please visit our INTO OSU Events website to see details about the trip, including when to meet, where to meet, what to bring, and what the cost of the trip is. 

 

Question: How do I sign up for a trip? 

  • You must sign up for the trip before you attend. You can find the sign up form for each trip on the INTO OSU Events website
  • Important: you are not confirmed on the trip until you pay for the trip! 

 

Question: How do I pay for a trip? 

  • After you sign up for the trip you will receive an email from the Student Engagement Coordinator with the link to pay. 

 

Question: What does my trip fee cover?

  • Typically, the trip fee covers roundtrip transportation, the event entrance fee or the activity fee, and the staff members that accompany students.

 

Question: Where is the meeting location for trips?

  • Students will be picked up and dropped off at the ILLC, unless otherwised specified in the trip details. Typically we meet outside the ILLC across from Arnold Dining center.  

 

Question: If I decide not to come after signing up, can I get a refund?

  • Unfortunately, INTO OSU has a no-refund policy. 

 

Question: Can my friends come with me on a trip? 

  • Yes! All Oregon State University students are welcome to sign up for our trips and activities; it's not limited to only INTO OSU students. 
  • If your friends want to come, they need to sign up on the INTO OSU Events website and also pay.
