OSU 2017 Spring Orientation

 

 

 

What is Orientation?

New Student Orientation takes place in the days leading up to the start of your first day of classes.  It's a time to get registered for classes, meet fellow students, and get acquainted with your new surroundings.

You should plan on arriving at least one day before the start of Orientation (refer to brochure or I-20 for start date). The Orientation start time and location will be communicate via email before your arrival.

What to Expect

Orientation is required for all students to attend. During orientation you will meet other students in your program, learn about OSU’s campus, learn about your visa regulations, and register for classes.  Orientation topics include:

  • Campus resource information
  • Cultural adjustment
  • Campus rules and safety information
  • Campus tour
  • Visa regulations
  • Documents checks
  • Student Health Clinic

Testing and Registration

At Orientation, students are tested to determine their class level. You will be registered for classes and receive your class schedule. You will use your class schedule to purchase your textbooks, which can be purchases from the OSU Beaver Store. Students who arrive late may be charged a late registration fee of $300.

What to Bring

  1. Passport and All I-20s
  2. Your ONID email password
  3. Health Immunization Forms
  4. Payment, if needed
  5. Official documents: Sealed official high school transcript or university transcript and final certificate/diploma/degree certificates. English translations of these documents must also be submitted as official documents.

Orientation Checklist

Confirm your passport will not expire within six months after the date you enter the US. Pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee, then schedule your appointment at a US Embassy and submit your visa application.
Submit your required immunization and health forms via the OSU Patient Portal.
Sign up for your ONID (OSU Network ID) email. Write down your password and bring it with you.
For students living on campus, you must pay your deposit, complete and submit your INTO OSU Housing Application, and submit your arrival details in order to receive your room confirmation. Watch your email for housing details. Students who confirm earlier are more likely to receive their requested room type.
All students are required to submit their flight details as soon as they are available. You can also book the Airport Shuttle Service via this link. The shuttle is available to all students with no extra charge, but you must make a reservation.
Submit a passport photo before you arrive so that we can get your ID card ready. If you live on campus, your card will be ready when you check-in. If you live off-campus, you can pick your card up at the ID Card Center in the Memorial Union. You must set up your ONID Email in order to submit your photo.
Undergraduate and Graduate Pathway students must provide the following documentation to the Office of International Admissions via mail or at Orientation.
  1. Official Documents: Sealed official high school or university transcripts and final certificate/diploma/degree certificates.
    1. English translations of these documents must also be submitted as official documents.
  2. Official TOEFL score submitted online via ETS directly to OSU (OSU College Code: 4586)
  3. Official results of any other English language tests
